Is there anyway to skip mount Nibel in Final Fantasy 7 if you have already made it to Wutai VIllage?

I find it really annoying that every time I want to go to Wutai village I have to go all the way through Mount Nibel which is a pain. I don't have the airship yet and I'm on disc one, just lost the keystone to Shinra and now I'm going west to power level and hopefully beat the pagoda thing. Anyone please help? :D
