We caught a rat in our hav-a-hart trap...how far do I need to take it away?

I have an outside aviary and we had a rat that was visiting all the time. We caught her in our live trap last night. I want to release her, but I am wondering how far away I should take her to keep her from returning. Also, how far away from any residence or businesses do I need to take her? How far will they travel if left in the woods? Thank you.
