What else can i feed a spotted gar besides feeders?

i have a 5 inch baby gar.i don't really have time to always run to the pet shop to get feeders.plus its been a month and my guppies haven't breed.i really want to keep my spotted gar. i also purchased a dinosaur eel and the pet land told me they only eat feeders.witch its true he eats freeze dried blood worms and flakes and pellets.i have my spotted gar in a 45 gallon grow out tank.please i need your help real fast yahoo answers please get back to me with best eating suggestions
